More than 1,200 events took place to mark the Initial European Small business Week on 6-14 May under the motto ‘Small business, big ideas’ – promoting initiative and small businesses, the lifeblood of Europe’s economy. The message across Europe was clear: small businesses are the engine of the European economy and Europe is currently more than ever prepared and willing to support them.

This European SME Week event is a campaign to market entrepreneurship across Europe and to inform entrepreneurs about support offered for them at European, national and local level. It permits SMEs to find an array of knowledge, recommendation, support and ideas to help them develop their activities.

From the opening in Brussels to the closing gala in Prague, an array of events was on provide for entrepreneurs in 35 countries: monetary support and recommendation, latest business trends, tips about green business, success stories of entrepreneurs, workshops and more.

The Small business Week was organised by the European Commission’s DG Enterprise and Industry in cooperation with business organisations and national, regional and local authorities within the 35 taking part countries.

The Small business Week is one in every of the measures implementing the Little Business Act, the first comprehensive SME policy framework for the EU and its Member States.

The SME Week seeks to:
