The most interesting fact there that the more food records people kept the more weight they lost.
People who kept no food records lost about 9 pounds and those who kept six or even more records per week lost about 20 pounds. I hope that this difference a little shocked you.

We always eat much more than we think we do. So writing down exactly what you eat gives the key for understanding where the extra calories are coming from. It is also very important to keep a check on your portion size. You have to be sure that it is constant from day to day.
